Hadiths indicate we shouldn’t wear pure red but is headgear excluded from this prohibition?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Message: What is the ruling on wearing a red kufi or turban or the red hat commonly found in Egypt. Hadiths indicate we shouldn’t wear pure red but is headgear excluded from this prohibition?

Assalaam Alaikum,

الجواب و بالله التوفيق

The red kufi, turban and hat (topi/cap) are excluded from the prohibition/reprehensibility which is evident from certain traditions. Therefore, these can be worn by males, although they are red.

And Allah Knows Best.
