A Clarification On Method Of Performing Salatus Tasbeeh

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Question: As Salaamu Alaikum,
I’m reading this book, ‘A Women of Paradise’ and there’s 2 methods of performing Salaat al-Tasbeeh.

In the 1st methods it says, “After fourth rakah these should be chanted ten times and then the standard formula be recited.”
Does “these” mean the four formula and the “standard formula” mean at-Tahiyat?
In the 2nd method it says, “Another method is that the above four formule be recited fifteen times before reciting Surah al-Fatiha and another ten times after the Surah.”
Does “the Surah” mean Surah al-Fatiha or is another Surah recited then the formula?

Answer: Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

  1. ‘These’ refer to the four formula (or expressions) and ‘the standard’ for such formula refers to At Tahiyat.
  2. ‘The Surah’ means another Surah besides Surah Fatihah. After reciting the Surah, the four Formulas will be recited ten times.

And Allah Knows Best.
