Is It Permissible To Get Ruqya Done?

Question:

I would like to ask a fatwa, is it permissible to get Ruqya done? If it is permissible, can Raqi charge for his service? If all of the above are permissible, and an Imam says it is not halal and not permissible to do ruqya and to make money, what is the ruling regarding those who make Halal into Haram?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is Mustahab/permissible to get Ruqya done if the Ruqya is done using only words of the Quran and that mentioned in the Ahadith and no other strange words or symbols or words of shirk, and this has been practised by the Prophet himself as well1, as for taking payment it is permissible to take payment for doing Ruqya.2As for taking a fatwa the Mufti must have his evidence so we should not criticize his fatwa before knowing the reasons behind it or the evidence.

ان الرقية ليست بقربة محضة فجاز اخذ الأجرة عليه
