Question:

If someone takes an oath that he will not masturbate in the future but due to ill thoughts and lust he ejaculates without masturbating, has he broken his oath?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Imam Quduri Rahimahullah says “Yameen Mun’aqidah is where a person takes an oath regarding something that he will do in the future, or not do if he breaks his oath Kaffaarah will be necessary”1

The oath was not to masturbate in the future, since masturbation did not occur the oath will not break.

Only Allah knows best
