Question:

Any research on SMP? It’s basically like a tattoo on bald patches of the head that resembles hair stubbles.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. A pigment is inserted into the epidermis layer of the skin making it akin to a traditional tattoo, therefore it will not be permissible due to the curse of the Prophet [s] upon the one who tattoos and the one who gets it done. [1] However, there will be scope for it to be permissible if a person has what is understood to be an abnormality or deformity which can only be remedied through this procedure. [2]
