Delay Eid Salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Delay Eid Salah

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

If there is a reason that the Eid ul Fitr prayer cannot be performed on the proper day, then it may be delayed and performed on the following day.  For example, if the moon is veiled or is witnessed after the sun has passed its peak (zawal).

The prayer of Eid ul Adha can be delayed for three days on the basis that these three days are the days of Tashrik (11th, 12th and 13th Zul Hijjah)  (Fatawa Hindiyyah p.75 v.1 & Nurul Idah p.245)

If a person has missed the Eid Salah at his local mosque, it will be permissible for him to read the Eid Salah at a different mosque the following day.
