Can humans marry jinnis

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Can humans marry Jinnis?

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

Allahmah Ibn Abideen Shami (RA) defines marriage as “a contract that makes it lawful for a man to make love to a women without there being a lawful prohibition to this marriage.” A lawful prohibition here refers to marriage to another man or to a hermaphrodite, a Polytheist women, a mahram or a female jinn.” (Raddul Mahtar p.61 v.4)

Ibn Nujaym was also of the view that the marriage is unlawful between a man and female jinni as they are of different worlds.

From the above we can deduce that when marrying female Jinni is unlawful, cohabiting with them will also be unlawful.
