Animal fat in soaps

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham
Asalaamu alaikum
I was informed recently that the soap i use is haram due to it containing animal fat. (Dove soap). Is this correct, if so, can you please tell me what soaps are halal.

Jazaa’kAllahu khair

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

Soaps containing animal fat are permissible as they are non-edible products. The leniency in regards to this is based on the principle of Umoom-e-Balwa (public predicament). It is generally regarded difficult to abstain from soaps containing animal fat. Therefore you may continue using Dove soap.

And Allah knows best.
