Is It Allowed To Wear Jeans When Reading Salah

Question

Is it allowed to wear jeans when reading salah?

In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Answer

“O Children of Adam! Take your adornment during every prayer.” (Surah Al-Aaraf v.31)

The awrah or private area of a man during salah is that which is between his navel to the end of the knees. For a free woman, it is her whole body except her face, hands and feet. (Nurul Idah p.123)

To wear such tight fitted trousers, which reveal the shape of the private area in salah, is Makruh and against the etiquette of salah.

With regards to your question, if the jeans are covering the awrah and not so tight that they reveal the shape of the private area, it would be permissible to wear them.

Only Allah knows best.
