Question

Is there Zakat on the rent received from a house?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

Zakat is not obligatory on the value of the property. However, zakat will be given on the rent received. It will be added to one’s other zakatable assets and 2.5% will be given from it as zakat. (Fatawa Darul Uloom Deoband p.154 v.6)
