Is Saying Jummah Mubarak Permissible

Question

Is saying Jummah Mubarak permissible?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer

In principle to give greetings on blessed days is something which is permissible. A good example will be of Eid where it is established that the Companions will say to each other, “Taqabbal Allaahu minnaa wa minka (May Allah accept from us and from you).” (Fatawa Rahimiyah p.281 v.1)

Saying Jummah Mubarak in principle is permissible, however, if someone thinks it to be necessary or that it is an established Sunnah of Friday, then it will become a bidah.

The scholars have written that if someone deems or believes something which in Islam is desirable and mustuhub to be necessary, then that can amount to a bidah. (Takmilul Hajah, Sharah Sunan Ibn Majah p.103)
