Praying Salah Silently Without Moving the Lips

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Answered by: Alimah Sumeyye Sofu

Question

I read a post saying it is necessary that we should be able to hear what we recite in salah or else the salah will not count. Is this true?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Yes. It is not permissible to recite completely silently without the movement of the tongue and lips.[1]

As a woman, no one else should hear your voice but you should hear your own voice while moving your lips.

Only Allah knows best
