Question:

I’ve heard that Satan comes to a person at the time of his death in the form of his mother or father that passed away, and warns him that Oh son! Oh, daughter! do not die on Islam, we died on Islam and Islam tended to be a false religion. And in this way tries to convert them into Christian or Jew.

Please comment on its authenticity and confirm if it is mentioned in some Hadith. جزاك الله خيرا

Answer:

Imam Suyuti and Ibn Hajar Makki said, “there is no Hadith that mentions the Shaytan comes to a person at the time of his death in the form of his mother or father.” [1]

However, the Prophet of Allah said:

(1) It was narrated that Jabir  said: I heard the Prophet  say: “The Shaytaan is present with any one of you in all his affairs.”[2]

(2) It was narrated from Abu Saeed Al-Khudri  that the Prophet  said: “Idles said: ‘By Your Glory, I shall strive to lead Your slaves astray so long as their souls are in their bodies.’ Allah said: ‘By My Glory and Majesty, I shall continue to forgive them so long as they ask Me for forgiveness.’” [3]

(3) Messenger of Allah used to say in his supplication: “O Allah, I seek refuge in You from being crushed; and I seek refuge in You from falling from a height, drowning, being burned and from senility; and I seek refuge in You lest the Shaytaan gain control over me and confuse me at the time of death, and I seek refuge in You lest I die having turned my back whilst fighting for Your sake; and I seek refuge in You lest I die from a venomous sting or bite.” [4]

This Hadith proves that the fitnah of the Shaytaan may affect the Muslim at the time of his death.
