Question

Are we allowed to talk after Jummah Khutbah is done? Do we follow Imam Abu Hanifa’s opinion or the Sahibayn?

Answer:

Talking during the Jumuah Khutbah [sermon] is not permissible. The Prophet (saw) said, “If you say to your companion ‘be quiet’ when the Imam is delivering the sermon on the day of Jumu’ah, you have spoken wrongly.”[1]

As for your second question: sometimes Imam Abu Hanifah and his students had different opinions on an issue. A person should not arbitrarily choose one of them but rather follow trustworthy scholars who have decided when to follow Imam Abu Hanifah’s opinion on an issue and when to follow his students’ opinion. Therefore, consult reliable and expert scholars and follow what they have taught.[2]
