Question

Is squid halal? Why or why not?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is not permissible to eat squid because the only seafood that is halal according to the Hanafi school, is fish (Samak).[1]

Squid is not considered fish and therefore it is not permissible to eat.
