Stuttering Talaq

Question

Assalamu alaykum,

If a person has a severe stammering problem, due to which he utters the word talaq repeatedly when he is only intending to say it once, what will the ruling be?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Generally, when a person stutters, he repeats the beginning of the word multiple times but only ending it once, therefore, it will be taken as though he only said it once. Just as if a person were to hesitate when giving divorce and repeated the beginning multiple times but only said it once.

Only Allah knows best
