Question

Assalamualaykum.

I was chewing gum in the state of ihraam as I wasn’t aware of its impermissibility. What’s the way forward now?

Jazakallah.

Answer:

Gum is usually eaten for freshening the breath and leaves a strong minty fragrance in the mouth. Consuming chewing gum during Ihram will make it wajib for one dam to be given.[1]
