Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Did the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) mention about Laila and Majnu?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

Layla and Majnun (Arabic: مجنونليلى‎), also Leili o Majnun (Persian: ليلىومجنون‎), is a narrative poem composed in 584/1188 by the Persian poet Niāmi Ganjavi based on a semi-historical Arab story about the 7th century Nejdi Bedouin poet Qaysibn Al-Mulawwah and his ladylove LaylabintMahdi (or Layla al-Aamiriya).

I have not come across a report from the Prophet (p.b.u.h) mentioning about Layla and Majnun. There are however reports from early scholars which could be found in Abu Al-Faraj Al-Asfahānī’s book kitāb Al-Aghānī (Vol.2 Pg.5 Dar As-Sādir Beirut).
