Question:

I recently attended a meeting where a lady was leading a Salam and Salat gathering where her husband and his brothers were present. I was there because they are related to my wife. Is that allowed Islam. A lady can lead a mehfil e Slalat o Slam where her husband and his brothers and me as an outsider is present.

Answer

بسم الله الرحمن الرحي

A woman can lead a Salat and Salam gathering on the condition that her voice is not melodious and is not done in the presence of non-mahram. As the aforementioned gathering was done in the presence of non-mahram, therefore, it will not be permissible.

Allah said: O wives of the Prophet, you are not like anyone among women. If you fear Allah, then do not be soft in speech [to men], lest he in whose heart is disease should covet, but speak with appropriate speech.” (SuraAhzab: 32)
