Is it permissible for a Hanafi to eat calamari if their spouse is Shaafi?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
According to Hambali and Shaafi madhab anything from the sea is halaal. I am married to a Shaafi and i am Hanafi. According to Hanafi madhab calamari is not permissible. Why is it halaal for my wife to serve this on our supper table and i am not allowed to eat it. Please advise.

Yes, it is correct that according to Ahnaf in sea animals only fish is allowed to eat and the rest are prohibited:

Therefore, if calamari is not a fish then it will not be permissible to consume it. (for details, please see:والصیود بدائع الصنائع، اول کتاب الذبائح (

Every one of you (wife and husband) has to follow his imam; there is no need to look for daleel:

So, you have to follow your imam and your wife has to follow her imam.
