Is it compulsory for a muslim to have a beard? if he doent have it then is he punishable in aakhirat? Is is Sunnah or Fard? Kindly quote the relevant para of quran or hadees in this regard.

(Fatwa: 1383/1298=D/1429)
It is wajib (necessary) to grow beard at least to one fist size. It is major sin to trim it below one fist or shave it; one who trims or shaves shall deserve punishment in the hereafter.
