Can we tell mom about our loans despite her income?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
We are 2 brothers and 1 sister. My elder brother lives and works in India and stays in our parents house. My widow mother also stays in the same house but in a different apartment. Every month my brother pays my mother 25,000 rupees and my mother collects 15,000 rupees from rent. My mother does not owe any money to people and likes to change cars on a regular basis and spend money on our sister who resides in Canada. Inspite of an income of 40,000 rupees monthly she expects that since she has spent a lot of money on our education we brothers should give her more money on a monthly basis. In such a situation is it acceptable if we brothers tell our mother that we have taken loans from people and we need to repay them.

Answer

(Fatwa: 171/D=68/file/D=1432)

Telling a lie shall not be lawful. Thus if the requirements of mother are fulfilled with rent money and the amount given by the elder brother then you are not required to give money but you should offer her out of love and dedication. It shall be counted your obedience also and source of good reward. Then, your mother shall be free either to spend it in her personal needs or give it to her children. However, you can express it if you brothers really feel want of money.
