Can we do a phone nikah if her family is taking a long time to accept the proposal?

Assamualeykum mufti sahab, I am in relation with a girl for more than 6 months now, we were good friends and liked each other and proposed to each other about our feelings. well i want to get married to her and so does she, but her family members are taking really long time(proposal has been made from my side), i live in australia and she is in india. Is phone nikah valid? and what are steps of doing it? Incase parents of girl reject the proposal because of their way of looking things or ego factor, is it right we get married in front of witness(my family members & friends)? We love each other madly and does not want to be seprated, want to really to throught sunnah of prophet, but incase modern world steps in, what is the step for us.
