If a certain invidual (zaid) believed in the tahreef of the Quran, and other person (xyz) doesnt belief in the kufar of zaid, and still hold him in high regard and think of him as a great person, does xyz also become a kafir?

Are people aware of his false beliefs or not? Also, for what reason they hold him in high regard and respect him i.e. for political and worldly matters or for his beliefs and religion? Please, enclose their statements with your question, then only we can have a say.
