Is it permissible to sell an item at a higher price than its original cost?

This will save a lot of effort and time. We write to you scholars because we are not competent enough in Isalmic education – that we will ourselves sit and refer to each book and find out the details ourselves. I have learnt in Jamath that of the 6 adab, one is to acquire knowledge by asking. What is the ruling regarding selling of items at higher price e.g an item XYZ costs Rs : 100/- and I sell it at 10,000/-. Is this allowed? (Kinldy quote references) Awaiting your response.
