Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
mufti saheb many muslims go to race course to bet on horses. is it allowed in islam.

Answer

(Fatwa: 133/120/B=1432)

Horse riding is lawful for the purpose of physical exercise in itself. Hadhrat Ibn Umar (رضى الله تعالی عنه) narrates that the holy Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) arranged for a horse race. (Jassas, Vol. 1, p. 88) However, it is haram to bet in it from both sides as it involves gambling. Muslims should avoid it. Write the detail of the race course about which you want to know, and submit the question again.
