I have overpaid my Zakat for this year due to some over-estimation of my income. Can you please confirm the status of this overpaid amount? Should I consider it as sadqa? Or can I set-off this amount of over-payment with my Zakat due next year, so as to reduce the amount payable next year by the amount of Zakat over-paid this year?

If the extra amount was paid with the intention of zakah, you may count it in the next year’s zakah. (Fatawa Darul Uloom 6:93)
