Are gold fillings permissible?

Question:

I need filling for my teeth.  I have been advised by the dentist to get gold filling? Is this allowed?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible to have filling made of gold on medical grounds.[1]

[1]  وَذَكَرَ الْحَاكِمُ في الْمُنْتَقَى لو تَحَرَّكَتْ سِنُّ رَجُلٍ وَخَافَ سُقُوطُهَا فَشَدَّهَا بِالذَّهَبِ أو بِالْفِضَّةِ لم يَكُنْ بِهِ بَأْسٌ عِنْدَ أبي حَنِيفَةَ وَأَبِي يُوسُفَ رَحِمَهُمَا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى وَرَوَى الْحَسَنُ عن أبي حَنِيفَةَ رَحِمَهُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى أَنَّهُ فَرَّقَ بين السِّنِّ وَالْأَنْفِ فقال في السِّنِّ لَا بَأْسَ بِأَنْ يَشُدَّهَا بِالذَّهَبِ وفي الْأَنْفِ كُرِهَ ذلك كَذَا في الْمُحِيطِ (الفتاوى الهندية ج 5 ص 336 الرشيدية)
