Age for Aqeeqa

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za

Q: When should a person make aqeeqa and until when can a person make aqeeqa?

A: It is sunnah to make aqeeqa on the seventh day. If aqeeqa was not done on the seventh day then one could make it on the fourteenth day or the twenty first day or any seventh day thereafter. If it is difficult to follow this pattern then one can make the aqeeqa during the seventh week, seventh month or seventh year until the child matures. Some Ulama say one can still make aqeeqa after the age of maturity also.
