Q: Is it permissible to give zakaat to my aunty? She and her husband don’t have jobs and she lives off family support every month.Hhe is a drug addict too, but the monies will go to my aunt personally. Can I spread the amount over a few months?
A: If your aunt does not possess gold equal to 87 grams or more, then you may give her zakaat, and you may also spread it over a few months. In this case it is better that you give the zakaat to the aunt and not her husband.
