My mother suffered from brain haemorrhage due to which she cannot offer prayers as she used to be, as she forgets the surah and duaas we recite in prayers. What should be done under this situation?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

My mother suffered from brain hemorrhage, four months back. Thereafter she had successful diagnosis and she is underway for rehabilitation phase. However due to the said incident, her speech and naming memory had been badly affected. She cannot name things/objects with their respective name.

Likewise, she cannot offer prayers as she used to be, as she forgets the surah and duas we recite in prayers. We are trying our level best to facilitate her. Currently she offers each prayers but with two rakaats , in which she attempts to recite Surah Fatiha and Ikhlaas. Whereas rest of the recitals is not possible for her to recall, currently.

So what should be done under this situation.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We make duaa Allah Ta’āla grant your mother complete and speedy recovery.

The recitation of surah fātiha and surah ikhlaas will suffice in the two rakaats. Her salāh will be valid.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
