I have question about women hijab, that is it Fard or Wajib for women to cover their faces as well when going out? or is it just for extra rewards (ajar)?
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
According to all four mathahib(schools of thought) i.e Maliki[1], Hanbali[2], Shafi[3] and Hanafi[4] it is necessary (wajib)for a woman to cover her face.
The face of a woman is the central point of her beauty and features. The attraction to beauty is the first point of an advanced relationship. Shariah prohibits all immoral relationships and everything that leads to immorality.
The covering of a woman’s face is meant to close the doors to the attraction of the woman, thereby closing the doors to immorality and shamelessness. A woman is sacred and Shariah wishes her to be regarded as such and to be approached with purity and dignity.
A woman’s face left open is vulnerable to impure eyes and degrading a woman to be merely objectified. As mentioned, a woman is sacred and is far beyond being objectified. She is a human being that deserves to feel personal and important within her feminine self.

[1](ومع أجنبي غير الوجه والكفين) قال الأبي عن القاضي عياض وقيل ما عدا الوجه والكفين والقدمين انتهى. واعلم أنه إن خشي من المرأة الفتنة يجب عليها ستر الوجه والكفين قاله القاضي عبد الوهاب ونقله عنه الشيخ أحمد زروق في شرح الرسالة وهو ظاهر التوضيح هذا ما يجب عليها (المواهب الجليل بشرح مختصر الخليل ص499 دار لفكر )
[2] و قد قال بعض الفقهاء فرض الحجاب مختصة بهن فرض عليهن بلا خلاف فى الوجه و الكفين لا يجوز كشفهما لشهادة و لا غيرها و لا يجوز اظهار شخوصهن و لو مستترات الا لضرورة البراز (كتاب الفروع ج8 ص186 موسسة االرسالة)
[3] و يحرم نظر فحل بالغ الى عورة حرة كبيرة اجنبية و كذا وجهها و كفيها عند خوف فتنة و كذا عند الامن على الصحيح (مغنى المجتاج ج4 ص217 دار الحديث)
[4] وعبر في الفتح بالاستحباب، لكن صرح في النهاية بالوجوب وفي المحيط: ودلت المسألة على أن المرأة منهية عن إظهار وجهها للأجانب بلا ضرورة لأنها منهية عن تغطيته لحق النسك لولا ذلك، وإلا لم يكن لهذا الإرخاء فائدة اهـ ونحوه في الخانية (الرد المحتر ص528 ج2 سعيد)
