I wanted to ask if Hurmat-e-mustahara takes place if a person masturbates using one of his mother’s undergarments that he picked up from somewhere. While committing the act the person did not imagine or think lustfully for even a split second about his mother and just used it thinking of it is a female garment. He only comitted this henious act once some 20 years ago and was unaware of the potential implications of it at that time and was young (16-17) although baaligh.
He is extremely remourseful for the act and is now very scared if his parents’ nikah is still valid. Can you please help..

In the enquired case, Hurmate- Musaharah does not take place.
Taubah and Istighfaar should be made as masturbating is a heinous and grave sin.
