What is the ruling in Shariat if in salaam after “wa barakaatuhu” a person adds “Wa maghfiratuhu”? What if he adds “wa jannatul maqaam dozakhul haram” etc?
Answer:
AssalÃÂmu `alaikum WarahmatullÃÂhi Wabrakatuh,
If your question is about the salaam that is said at the end of salaat then one should say âÂÂassalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahâÂÂ. To add âÂÂwa barakaatuhuâ after that has been commended by some scholars, whereas other scholars are of the view that doing so is an innovation and must be avoided. However, adding âÂÂwa maghfiratuhuâ in the salaam at the end of salaat is not proven.àHence, one must refrain from doing so.

If your question is pertaining to the salaam that is said outside of salaat when greeting a Muslim then one should say âÂÂasslamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhuâÂÂ. He should not add anything else to that. When replying to someoneâÂÂs salaam, one should say âÂÂwa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaaktuhuâÂÂ. He should not add âÂÂwa maghfiratuhuâ to the salaam.

As for âÂÂwa jannatul maqaam dozakhul haramâÂÂ, it is a mixture of Arabic and Urdu and is not from the teachings of the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam). Hence, it is not permissible to say such words after the salaam at the end of salaat or after the salaam when greeting someone.
