Assalamu Alaikum I was shocked to find out that many good practicing brothers in our masjid believe that the Taliban were wrong to FORCE Shariah on the Muslims. More specifically, they say that the Taliban should not have FORCED the Muslims to perform their daily Salawats. Most of these brothers are Tablighy brothers and they say that the Taliban should have only made dawa. I sharply disagree with them. I told them it was the duty of an Islamic Government to ENFORCE the Shari?ah. I claimed that it is the duty of the Islamic Government to FORCE the so-called Muslims to perform their daily Salawats. Could you please clarify which point of view is correct? Jazakallahu Khairun
There are two primary aspects of Shariah. Ibaadaat (worship) and Muamalaat
(dealings). The Taalibaan had been encouraging it’s citizens to make
Ibaadaat by performing Salaat, etc. timeously. They created an environment
to achieve that. As regards Muamalaat, that has many denominations and an
Islamic Government has the right to ensure that Muslims dealings are
according to the Shariah.
