My father strictly forbade me from wearing Sunnah attire (Topi, kurta, turban). Can I go against his wishes?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Assalamu ‘Alaikum Mufti Sahib. My father thinks I will be in danger if I make my Muslim identity so apparently known by dressing like a Muslim. Can I do it anyway or do I have to abide by his wishes? Also, could I lie to him and tell him I’m not dressing that way so he doesn’t worry? Jazakallahu khair.

In view of the prevailing situation, it is not permissible for a Muslim to
conceal his Islamic identity, beard, etc. However, he should exercise
precaution and guard himself to the best of his ability from being
victimized.
