Shaykh al-Islam al-Sirhindi says in Maktubat (Vol.3, Letter 38): “72 reported groups of bidah should not be called kafir, because they are Ahl al-Qibla”. Why you call them (Shi’as) Kafir?

Answer:

The crime of the Ja’fari Shi’as is not Bid’at, it is Kufr.

If it was Bid’at, we would not say they are Kaafirs.
