My father-in-law died 2 years back and his 2nd wife – the step mother of my husband made his grave cemented with Quranic verses written all over it. my husband now wants a grave according to the Shariah – as given in Islam. Can you please tell me what can be done now? The grave is a little broken from teh top but the rest is all cemented….covered with white slabs and Quranic verses.

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh
Endeavour to chip away the Quranic Verses. Thereafter collect all these chippings and bury them. The rest of the structure should be demolished and the rubble carted away.
