Instructions for Wazifah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

For this wazifa (taken from Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (RA)’s “Remedies from the Holy Quran”): “For protection from nazar, fright, and excessive crying: Surah Ibrahim should be written on a piece of paper then the child should be made to wear it as taweez”.

Does Surah Ibrahim need to be handwritten or can it be printed out from the computer? And if handwritten, is it necessary for the parents to write it or can someone else write it and give it to them? Jazakumullah khair.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

According to the text of the book in reference, it appears the Surah should be written by hand. Hence, a printed copy will not suffice. Furthermore, the text is general. It does not state who should write it. Therefore, it may be written by anyone.
