Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Pious dreams are a bounty from Allah.

The Prophet of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said:

لم يبق من النبوة إلا المبشرات قالوا وما المبشرات؟ قال الرؤيا الصالحة

“Nothing is left of the prophetism except Al-Mubashshirat.” They asked, “What is Al-Mubashshirat?” He replied, “The true good dreams” [1]

A good dream is meant to inspire. It should not make us lose our focus from our actual purpose in life. The example of a beautiful dream is of beautiful scenery that a person gets attracted to when travelling. He will not stop for the scenery. Rather he will enjoy the scenery and move on. Thus our focus should not stray towards the transitory world of dreams. We should focus on real life issues. Recounting every dream and pondering on its meanings is futile. Dreams alone cannot change a person’s life.

Nonetheless, masha’Allah you have had a very blessed dream. If you have adopted the company of the pious, in that case you should sustain the company. If you have not adopted the company of the pious, then you should do so.[2]

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم has said regarding the person who sees a pious dream:

فَلْيَحْمَدِ اللهَ عَلَيْها

“…so he should praise Allah upon it…”[3]

This dream should motivate you and inspire you to continue acting on the commandments of the Shari’ah and rectifying yourself.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
