Dr. Zakir Naik: To Listen or Not to Listen?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What do you think of Dr Zakir Naik? Can we listen to his lectures?

Bismillaah

A: He is not an aalim that has studied the laws of deen pertaining to fiqh, tafseer and hadeeth. So his statements pertaining to fiqh, hadeeth and tafseer are unreliable and it is wrong for him to make a commentary on the Qur’aan and hadeeth or to show a mas’alah on his own. He may have some understanding of comparative religion. It is better for him just to restrict himself to the area which he has been trained for and not to exceed that boundary.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
