Unintentional Swearing

Question:

DEAR BROTHER
 
ASSALAMUALAIKUM WA RAHMATULLAHI WA BARAKATUHU
 
I HAVE A HABIT OF SWEARING , AND I CANT SEEM TO REMEDY MYSELF. I SOMETIMES SWEAR WITHOUT EVEN REALISING THAT I HAVE SWORN . IS THIS UNINTENTIONAL A  SIN

Considering your word swearing to mean the taking of oaths, then there is great importance attached to it by the Shari’ah. It is divided into a few types. Taking an oath whether or not do a specific action and not fulfilling that oath will make ‘Kaffaarah’ penalty binding on you. And swearing falsely for something in the past is a great sin.

Other than these two types of oaths any other form of oaths are not criminal in the court of Allah Ta’ala though making it a habit is frowned upon in Shari’ah. Try your utmost not to make it a habit.

And if you mean the usage of dirty language then it is a greatly looked down upon in Islam. Although swearing unintentionally is not a sin it will become a sin not try your utmost to remedy yourself from this bad habit. My opinion is that you try and remain in Dhikr all the time or at least make Istighfaar 10 times after swearing, intentionally or unintentionally. And also give some charity for each bad word uttered. May Allah make it easy.
