Question:
Q1-IS IT PERMISSIBLE FOR A MUSLIM SCHOOL TO TAKE DONATIONS FROM THE NON BELIEVERS, TO RUN THE SCHOOL AND TO PAY OF THE DEBTS OF THE MUSLIM SCHOOL?
Q2-IS THERE A CONDITION BEFORE ACCEPTING THE DONATIONS FROM THE KUFFAAR THAT THE EARNINGS OF THE PERSON OR THE COMPANY MUST BE HALAAL OR THE MONEY CAN BE TAKEN FROM ANY NON BELIEVER?
Answer:
It is permissible for a Muslim school to accept donations from non-Believers subject to this condition that such donations are not in any manner harmful to the Muslims or the school. If for example there is apprehension that the donors will try to interfere with the management of the school, then such donations should not be accepted. It will not be necessary to carry out a detailed enquiry with regards to the source of the income of the donor. However, if the source of income is (apparently) proven to be Haraam, then the donations must not be accepted. (Contemporary Fataawaa, Page 333/4)
