Making Someone Pray

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: What is the kindest way to make someone pray?

A. Do not instruct/command him to pray. If you instruct him to pray and he refuses, it will be detrimental to his spiritual self. Encourage him and enlighten him on the virtues and benefits of prayer. There are many Hadeeth mentioning these virtues. They can be found in the book ‘Fazaa’il A’amaal. Sometimes also mention the warnings in the Hadeeth regarding those who neglect prayers. Also make Du’aa for his guidance.
