Women’s arms in Sajda

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

How are the arms positioned when in Sajda? I learned from a hanafi book called “Everyday Fiqh” that women rest arms up to elbows on ground and then was blasted by a number of people saying that we are forbidden to pray like dogs, so what is the answer?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

The ruling you learned was right. The prohibition is true, but applies to men, not women.

Note, though, that Everyday Fiqh has some problematic rulings, and something like Taleemul Haq and/or Heavenly Ornaments, both commonly available, are better references.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
