Is it possible for someone to be bestowed with a complete grasp of one of His attributes without this implying divinity for that individual. For example is it acceptable to believe that the beloved prophet had COMPLETE knowledge yet this would not imply divinity as the beloved prophet did not have complete power, will etc. I am obviously talking about knowledge bestowed by Allah whether complete or otherwise.
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
Every attribute of Allah is absolute and unconditional. Every attribute of creation is limited and conditional.
The knowledge of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), despite being unimaginably vast and encompassing is ultimately limitary, and conditioned upon Allah having granted it to him (Allah bless him and give him peace). As Imam Ghazali affirms, no human can truly understand the rank of prophethood but a prophet.
So we don’t talk about prophets as we do of other humansfor they have been granted a rank beyond other humans by Allah’s raising’ (istifa’) of them, and by Allah granting them revelationbut this raising does in no way whatsoever grant them any share of Divinity.
As Imam Busiri said in his Burda about the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him),
“So the limit of knowledge about him is that he is human,
And he is the very best of all Allah’s creation.”
And Allah alone gives success.
