A Question Regarding the Fast of the Prophet Dawud

If someone is in the habit of fasting the like the Prophet Dawud (Allah bless him and give him peace), meaning that he fasts every other day, then if the day that he doesn’t fast coincides with a day that is recommended to fast—such as Monday or Thursday, for example—then is it superior for him to fast or to not fast?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

It is best for him to fast, and this does not vitiate the manner of fasting of the Prophet Dawud (upon him be peace), even if it means that he ends up fasting two days in a row, as stated by Imam Ramli in his Fatawa in the chapter of fasting.
