What is the ruling on men wearing red?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Imam Nawawi (Allah have mercy on him) said in his Majmu`(4.336-337) that it is permissible for men to wear white, red, yellow, green, [s. black], striped clothing and other colors on their clothing. There is no disagreement on this point, nor is there any dislike in this (wearing these colors).

The best of these is white because of a hadith related by Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Wear white, for it is the best of your clothing and bury your dead in it.”

There is scholarly consensus on the permissibility of wearing red when it is mixed with other colors (stripes, for example).

As for pure red, some hanafi and hanbali scholars have said that it is disliked for men. (Al-mawsu`a al-fiqhiyya al-Kuwaitiyya)

And Allah alone gives success.
