It is obvious that the present condition in Afghanistan is a culmination of
its past and success in the future largely depends upon considering the
both, past and present conditions.
In view of the above, it is incorrect to examine the Afghani situation
independent of the past which have major implications in their present and
possibly future conditions. The Afghani people, instead of being left
independent to build their culture and freely practise upon their religion,
they were engaged in expelling the foreign forces, namely, the British and
Soviet Union followed by a civil war.
The Taliban took control over the region and controlled the civil war, to
which there seemed to be no solution. The Taliban won the confidence of its
citizens and it was their responsibility as a government to protect their
citizens from foreign invaders and foreign influences which can best be
achieved by implementing Islamic Shari’ah.
The reports of being brutal, etc. are at most descriptions from an
administrative point of view. Some Afghani citizens have been soiled by the
communist indocrination and when faced with an opposite ideology, it is
natural for such people to criticise the system and unfortunately, the
enemies of an Islamic system capitalise on such reportings and create a
media hype.
The Taliban consists of Allah-fearing Ulama. The quality of being Allah
fearing is a sufficient description for their devotion and dedication. The
fear for Allah is a driving force to do everything according to the orders
of Allah.
