Should I quit university to pursue an aalma course, even though my mother is very invested in my education?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am a university student doing B.S in biotechnology.A few days back my mind for continuing my studies sort of changed;i felt a strong urge of quitting my studies and going for an aalma course but the thing is that my mother(to whom i havn’t told my recent plan)is very serious about my uni education and she even cried a bit about how much dreams she has associated with me.At this point i am really really confused as to what to do because i don’t want to hurt her and i don’t want to let my aalma dreams go to waste as well. Please do reply.

You should perform istekhrah and decide the option which you think is better for you and get your mother’s consent. It is to be noted that acquiring the knowledge of religion, observing all Shariah rules, is compulsory: لقولہ علیہ السلام: طلب العلم فریضۃ علی کل مسلم، و فی روایۃ مسلمۃ. If the parents do not allow acquiring the necessary knowledge of Deen then also it is compulsory.
